Hartley Wintney Fun Run, on Sunday 9th October 2011. Date Posted: 12/07/11
Hartley Wintney Fun Run will be holding it’s sixth Fun Run on Sunday 9th October 2011. The event is organised for children to promote life long well-being by introducing them to the fun of running at an early age.
The first event was in October 2006. The morning consists of five races for all ages between 2.5 and up to 14 years. The distances range from 400m to 2.4km with up to 300 children competing in the event each year.
Over the past five years they have raised over £3,000 for Hartley Wintney children’s groups
- Oakwood Infant School
- Oakwood Community Playgroup
- Greenfields Junior School
- 4th Bramshill Scout Group
- Hartley Wintney Girl Guiding Association
- St John’s Youth Group
With funds raised this year, they would love to be in a position to finance a running club for the youth in Hartley Wintney.
New for 2011
Five training sessions for the 1600m and 2.4km entrants starting in September. These are being led by a Level 3 BTF and Senior FTC Coach, Chris Roberts part of the Farnham Triathlon Club and Mike Cloke, Swifts Club at Greenfields Junior School, HW.
- In the 2.4km run the age limit has been extended to under 18 for a Fancy Dress category.
The morning is certainly full of fun for the whole family. Whilst the kids run their chosen fun run, we have other activities happening. These have included in the past, Supersportz Activity Zone, Bouncy Castles and Inflatables, Archery, a breakfast BBQ and St John’s Youth providing craft activities. It is a wonderful community atmosphere.
Including entry forms, how to become a sponsor and/or supporter, how to volunteer and photographs of the event.
