Equine

Bates has a specialist Equine Law Department, dedicated to dealing with legal problems relating to the equine industry and Agricultural Law of both a contractual and litigious nature.

We understand that the equine industry is unique in its characteristics and language. Agreements are often entered into with little or no contractual basis and as a result, disputes frequently arise.  These disputes require a solicitor with knowledge and expertise, not only of the law, but also of horses and of the equine industry.

We ensure you have the right agreements to avoid disputes.

Disputes will always arise, but where possible, it is preferable to avoid that situation, or at least ensure that you are equipped with a legal document, should a claim be brought against you, or should you need to enforce an agreement.

We offer a variety of legal agreements. Each Agreement will be drafted especially for you, to reflect your individual circumstances and requirements.

Examples of the Agreements we can provide:

  • Loan Agreements – long term of short term loan of your horse or pony.
  • Share Agreements – Agreements where you have agreed for someone else to share your horse or pony.
  • Livery Agreement – Agreements for Livery Yard Managers offering DIY, Part or Full Livery to clients.
  • Owner/Rider Agreements – Agreements between Owners and Riders.
  • Syndicates for ownership of horse.
  • Terms of Business for any Equine related business.
  • Contract of Employment.

If the Agreement you require is not listed, then please do contact us to discuss your requirements.
